Over the past couple years Grosse Pointe South High School has taken action to welcome the LGBTQIA+ community and create safer spaces overall. Because of this, the Tower wanted to shed light on the struggles trans students have and encourage students to create a more comforting atmosphere. In my photo I wanted to firstly make the model anonymous, making it so that their identity is protected. I also wanted the studio lighting to emphasize their binder and help them to feel comfortable. The image conveys how being trans brings on its own swirling challenges, but a strong stance conquers all.
