Graphics

One of my goals as a journalist and an artist is to not only take photos, but to also master multiple forms of digital art. Graphic design and composition has been an interest of mine for a while, and because of that, it has driven me to learn multiple programs such as photoshop, Blender, and Adobe Illustrate.

In the future, I hope to gain a better handle on these platforms to help my paper and website look more visually enticing.

AI encapsulates school work, but never human spirit

This article centered around how artificial intelligence (AI) could influence the college process and education. For this graphic I took it upon myself to learn Blender, a 3-D modeling program to create this robot figure. Then in Photoshop I added the image overlay, which consists of all my own pictures, and the TV 'generating' on its chest. This graphic is my favorite this year and I am proud to call every aspect of it entirely my own work because it encapsulates the angle of the article and my ability to learn and adapt to new programs.

A sweet treat makes Halloween complete for all ages

In order to create this graphic, I learned Adobe Illustrator and used a color matching technique on a free clip art image of a grandmother. By matching the shapes and colors of the body, I was able to easily add the clothing, wrinkles and shadows to make the image look cartoonish and whimsical while still abiding by the Free Use and copyright jurisdictions.

Music Mondays

Every Monday, the Tower Instagram releases a post asking three students about their favorite songs and albums. Not only does this cover post emphasize consistency across the feed, but the graphic makes it noticeable. For this graphic I used Adobe Illustrator and learned how to stylize typography. Photoshop was used for the remainder of the graphic such as the 'album cover,' gradient, and play-pause buttons.
